As “Mohawk Valley Gives” approaches, the Little Falls WCA Board of Directors would like to share some stories and reflections by current residents, previous residents, and organizations that utilize our facility. These personal experiences help illustrate the meaningful impact the WCA has on the lives of those we serve and on our community as a whole.
The following is one such reflection from a former resident who called the WCA home a few years ago.
“The Women’s Christian Association of Little Falls is a home donated in 1920 in memory of Anna Burrell in honor of her dedication to the women and girls of Little Falls. I am personally familiar with the Little Falls WCA. In 2017 I had a personal need and was able to call the WCA home for a year. That year I was blessed with comfort provided to me. There is so much more than a residence in addition to providing socialization with other women (if wanted), a community room (if wanted) and a wonderful manager/caretaker. True to the original plan, it still over 100 years later provides the community a meeting place for the Girl Scouts and other community organizations, women get together for cards and availability to other like-minded get togethers.
Little Falls is fortunate to have had this unique facility in our community for over 100 years. It’s changing board of directors (throughout the years) have successfully accomplished a remarkable feat.”
Please remember the Little Falls WCA the week of September 14-18! Every gift, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving this beautiful historic building the restoration and preservation it deserves. THANK YOU!
