Dear Editor,
I think the question here is why are certain council members denying Ward 1 residents of their right, under the municipal code, to have a counsel member appointed? Why are we giving them this power? Perhaps they are acting this way because they represent the wards where our illustrious developers live? Remember, Zaida was in Ward 1, so a lack of representation benefits them. We have the voting records and statements of those who supported it- with one key ringleader who talks too much at the meetings.
In effect, other counsel members are leveraging their wards voting power over Ward 1. The common counsel only represents the thin layer of residents who voted for them-don’t kid yourself otherwise.
All counsel members should be submitting written statements as to why they declined the appointment for Ward 1, and these responses should be entered into the minutes.
