Say “Boo to Polio Night” at Rotary

The Rotary Club of Little Falls met on Oct. 22 at the Elk’s Lodge for their annual fundraiser to support World Polio Day.

Bill Gates, through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is committed to supporting Rotary’s polio campaign by providing substantial funding and a 2:1 matching grant for funds raised by Rotary International. Recently, the two organizations renewed their partnership with a joint commitment of up to $450 million to help end polio by funding vaccine delivery, surveillance, and other critical efforts.

This partnership has contributed to a 99.9% decrease in polio cases since 1988 and has helped deliver vaccines to over 2.5 billion children. This global achievement is one of Rotary’s greatest accomplishments.

Locally, Rotary Foundation Chair Chris Van Meter organized Rotary’s annual fundraiser, appropriately titled “Say Boo to Polio Night” – and the Rotarians turned out in full costume to support the endeavor.

….and the Rotarians raised funds and enjoyed doing it!

The “Say Boo to Polio Night” raised $2000, and with the Gates Foundation 2:1 matching grant, that means $6000 will be going to the Polio Plus Fund, making the evening event successful and a lot of fun! Another example of Rotarians “Doing Good in the Community!”
