LITTLE FALLS, NY — Despite passing storms and steady rain, 52 golfers turned out Saturday, July 18, for the first “Friends of Little Falls Golf Tournament” at the Henry Pelzer Municipal Golf Course, also known as the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course.
The four-person scramble, played in three divisions — men’s, ladies’, and co-ed — featured a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and included skins games alongside coffee and donuts in the morning and a Masters-inspired lunch afterward.
In the men’s division, the winning foursome was Theo Wind, Tom Wind, Rock Zack, and Neiko Scarano. The co-ed division was won by Katrina Talbot, Justin Talbot, Meg Zack, and Dean Doxstader.
Course manager Robert Pawluk Jr., who took over management of the course earlier this year, praised the turnout in a message posted Saturday evening.
“Good evening, Mohawk Valley. I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude for the support this past Saturday’s tournament,” Pawluk wrote. “52 golfers endured the rain and storms, but hung out and finished the tournament. I appreciate all the support, and we have a good start for our account — Friends of Little Falls Golf Course.”
All proceeds from the tournament will go into a dedicated account established to support and enhance the course for current and future golfers, according to the event poster.
Pawluk, a lifelong Little Falls resident who has been a member of the course for nearly 47 years, took the helm of the city-owned nine-hole facility this year with a stated goal of preserving it as a community asset while making improvements — including new golf carts, clubhouse renovations, and a revived Friday night scramble. He indicated Saturday’s tournament is just the start, telling supporters to “look for more events coming up!”
