Preserve Our Past (POP) is once again partnering with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and UpMobility Foundation to participate in the fifth annual community-wide giving day – Mohawk Valley Gives. We welcome all donations big and small on September 18, 2026.

Our Mission

Preserve Our Past is a not-for-profit organization of citizens interested in preserving architecturally significant buildings within the City of Little Falls, New York.

About Us

Preserve Our Past (POP) was formed in the spring of 2004, when the future of the Titus Sheard Second Empire home at the top of Burke Park was found to be seriously endangered.  Our organization was successful in focusing the attention of the City on the Sheard house through publicity and a petition signing campaign.  Unfortunately, despite our efforts to save this landmark, the house had deteriorated and was demolished in 2006. The logo we use for POP is a portion of the decorative elements from the Sheard house porch railing.

Our Ongoing Quest to Save Historic Buildings in Little Falls, NY

We are committed to preserving historic buildings and public spaces in the City of Little Falls, New York. Since the City’s incorporation in 1895, hundreds of buildings have been lost through neglect, property mismanagement and ongoing commercialization. There are still many historic homes and buildings in Little Falls that are worthy of our attention.  We are highly committed to raising funds to keep these architecturally significant structures and landmarks relevant for future generations. Currently, the organization is partnering with Feldmeier Equipment and the City of Little Falls to restore the bandstand in Burke Park.
