The Oppenheim United Methodist Church recently completed Phase 3 of a project to repair and restore the large stained-glass windows in their church.
The windows are estimated to be over 100 years old and several were donated by early members of the congregation.
The restoration was done by the Adirondack Stained Glass Works in Gloversville, NY, using a process developed by Louis Tiffany in the turn of the last century.
Cracked or broken pieces were replaced, the glass was cleaned and the lead soldering was removed. The pieces were then reassembled and soldered back together using copper foil.
The project was funded through donations and a generous grant from THE ADAM AND NELLIE HORN FOUNDATION. A total of two large windows were repaired. The Church is currently raising funds to repair several smaller windows.
The Oppenheim United Methodist Church would like to express our sincere thanks to THE ADAM AD NELLIE HORN FOUNDATION for the grant awarded to our Church. These funds allowed us to complete the repairs to the remaining large windows which were in very poor condition.
