Figurative Abstract Painter Explores Human Connections Through Oil
LITTLE FALLS, NY – Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts is pleased to present an exhibition of figurative abstract paintings by award-winning artist Penny Santy. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, October 18th from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Vincent Gallery. The exhibition will remain on view through November 14th.
Penny Santy’s captivating works explore the intricate relationships between people through bold color and expressive form. Raised in Fayetteville and Syracuse, NY, Santy draws continuous inspiration from the natural abundance of Central New York, which provides both experiential opportunities and creative fuel for her artistic practice.
A graduate of Syracuse University with a BFA degree, Santy has cultivated her passion for oil painting over 37 years, developing a distinctive voice in contemporary figurative abstraction. Her dedication to the medium has earned significant recognition, including recent honors as a March 2024 Finalist in the BoldBrush Art Contest juried by Kathie Odom, and the 2022 Dorothy Bostwick Campbell Memorial Prize at the Cooperstown Art Association’s national juried exhibition.
Santy exhibits regularly throughout the Northeast, with work featured at prestigious venues including Dacia Gallery in New York City, Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, Arnot Art Museum in Elmira, Edgewood Gallery, and as a regular exhibitor at Art Haus SYR. Her work has been published in 1340 Art Magazine (April 2018) and Stone Canoe Number 18.
This exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to experience Santy’s mature artistic vision and her thoughtful exploration of human connection through the language of abstraction.
