Little Falls Honors Longtime Public Servant Anthony Federico for 47 Years of Dedication

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The City of Little Falls paid tribute to one of its most steadfast community servants on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026, during the monthly Police and Fire Board meeting.

Anthony Federico, a retired firefighter and crossing guard, was recognized for his remarkable 47 years of combined service to the city and its residents.

Mayor Deborah Kaufman read a heartfelt proclamation honoring Federico, highlighting his unwavering commitment to public safety and the well-being of the community.

The proclamation detailed his extensive career, beginning with 32 years as a dedicated firefighter with the City of Little Falls, where he demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication to protecting lives and property until his retirement in 1993.

In 2011, Federico returned to public service as a crossing guard, a role he held for 15 years until his retirement in January 2026.

Known for his reliability and perseverance, he faithfully ensured the safe passage of school children across city streets, braving rain, snow, sleet, extreme cold, heat, and every kind of weather to prioritize the safety of the community’s youngest residents above his own comfort.

“Throughout his combined 47 years of service, Anthony Federico has exemplified a kind, service-oriented personality that has touched countless lives,” Mayor Kaufman stated in the proclamation. “He has earned the respect, admiration, and affection of the children, families, colleagues, and residents he served. The City of Little Falls and its residents will greatly miss Anthony’s presence, warmth, and steadfast dedication, and we wish him health, happiness, and fulfillment in his well-deserved retirement.”

The proclamation formally recognized Federico for his exemplary contributions, declaring that the city hereby honors him for his 32 years as a firefighter and 15 years as a crossing guard. It concluded with the mayor’s signature and the affixing of the city’s seal.
