Little Falls Girl Scout Unit 260 held their annual Bridging and Badge Ceremony at Benton Hall Academy on Tuesday June 10th, 2025. Over 70 Girl Scouts and 40 registered volunteers were in attendance. Little Falls has nine Troops of various levels, PK-12. Some of our scouts moved up to the next level, but all of them received Girl Scout badges, pins, and fun patches for the learning they’ve done throughout the year. The unit also had one senior Ambassador Girl Scout, Emily Sheldon, bridged to an Adult scout; she will now become a lifetime member of the NYPENN Pathways Girl Scout council. She plans to continue being a part of Girl Scouts.
Additionally, some of our volunteers received recognition for assisting their scout’s troop, including Elizabeth Chrisman and Holly Pelzer. Both have been serving the Little Falls Unit for nearly a decade. Becky Wright, Member Services Manager, spoke on behalf of the NYPENN Pathways Council about her experiences with Little Falls Girl Scouts. Eve Fox presented details of her Silver Award which she earned earlier this year.
Near the end of the ceremony, there was a changing of the guard, as Holly stepped down as Service Unit Manager after eight years. A lifetime Girl Scout herself, Holly is not leaving Girl Scouts but would like to pursue other avenues of support through the Council. She’s interested in bringing more scout leader and volunteer training to the area to better assist local Girl Scouts. Holly would also like to bring more events to the area for Girl Scouts.
Holly handed the baton over to Stormee Shepardson, who was briefly a Girl Scout herself at one time. Stormee is also a troop leader, the unit recruiter, and the unit delegate. Stormee is looking forward to leading our leaders, volunteers and girls into the future of Girl Scouts.
It is never too late to join Girl Scouts! Although our Girl Scout calendar runs from October 1-September 31, girls may join at any time of the year. The kindergarten troop has started forming for the 2025-26 school year already. If you have a girl going into kindergarten this fall, this may be an opportunity for her to join.
