Interlude from “The Spotted Ball” a True Story by Larry Cohen c 2025
A few of my readers gave me some feedback, or more accurately blowback, from some of the recent chapters.
One reader asked why I would even have taken my friend to the casino if I knew of the inevitable outcome. My thinking was that my friend would have gone there eventually anyway. I thought that I could protect him from the wolves, even if only temporarily, unsuccessful as that turned out to be.
Another reader asked why I didn’t point out to the “Sad Sack” that he was losing by not betting on a certain number. That reader does not understand the mentality of the true gambler. A gambler knows he’s right. Try convincing a true gambler to bet on anything other than his way and you might as well march down Wall Street with a “The End is Near” sign in your hands with arms held high above your head.
One reader sincerely asked if I ever figured out some kind of “system” that worked in the numerical part of the roulette layout. That, my dear readers, I will get to that in a forthcoming chapter.
