SAUQUOIT, N.Y. — Shane Maxon’s first-half goal was all the Herkimer Magicians Varsity Boys Soccer Team needed on Monday night as they shut out the Sauquoit Valley Red Hawks 1-0.

It was Maxon’s first goal of the season. He had three assists in Herkimer’s season-opening victory over the Town of Webb on Thursday.

Magician’s goalkeeper Russell Stapf made five saves in recording the shutout victory. It is his second win of the season.

Herkimer is now 2-0 this season. Up next, they travel to Mt. Markham on Wednesday night for a matchup against the Mustangs, who are also undefeated (3-0).
