He was born on December 26, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey and was the son of the late, Peter and Regina (Makarski) Rubas. Eugene was educated in New Jersey as well.
On August 9, 1958, Eugene married the love of his life, Patricia Krajewski at Our Lady of Assumptions, Copiague, New York and raised their four sons in a loving home in West Islip, New York. This past month, they celebrated 68 years of marriage together.

After relocating, he worked for Frontier Town and Castaways in Berlin, Maryland where he continued on his maintenance career.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the ocean and beach where he loved to fish and go crabbing. He was an avid wood worker and could build anything! His most prized title was that of the name of “Pop” affectionately known by his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he absolutely adored.
