LITTLE FALLS, NY — Authorities are investigating the death of an unidentified male whose body was discovered early Thursday morning in front of 152 Loomis Street, prompting a coordinated response from local and state law enforcement.
The Little Falls Police Department responded to reports of an unresponsive individual near the street, who was found unclothed. Officers arrived at the scene and quickly determined that the man had passed away, initiating a standard death investigation to ascertain the cause.
Chief Robert Thomas of the Little Falls Police Department provided details in an interview, emphasizing the careful procedures followed due to the body’s location. “Because the body was found almost in the street, care was taken with the procedure on which they conducted the investigation and then moved the body,” Thomas said.
The process includes conducting interviews, collecting forensic evidence, and likely performing an autopsy.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members. Thomas assured that the investigation is thorough and ongoing, with assistance from the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit, the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office, and its investigator.
“At this point, the investigation is ongoing, and more updates will be provided later on as they become relevant,” Thomas added.
Residents in the area are encouraged to contact the Little Falls Police Department with any information that may assist the investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
