LITTLE FALLS, NY — Rock Valley Brewing Company is closing out garlic festival weekend with live music, welcoming Black Mountain Symphony to its Canal Place stage on Saturday, September 12, at 6 p.m.
The show lands just an hour after the Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival wraps up for the day at 5 p.m., giving festival-goers a natural next stop as they make their way through Canal Place in Little Falls.
Black Mountain Symphony is a six-piece progressive folk band based in the hill country outside Albany. The group’s members are all multi-instrumentalists, singers and songwriters, and the band has built a reputation for genre-blending live sets during tours across New York State and beyond.
The band has picked up praise from music writers around the region over the years. RadioRadioX’s Rob Smittix has called the group a staple of Capital Region music culture, while NYS Music’s Sammy Steiner has said their sound goes beyond genre. Ithaca.com writer Christie Citranglo has praised the grace the band brings to its songwriting.
Rock Valley Brewing has made a habit of pairing its taproom with regional festivals and live music since opening its doors in 2020. The Canal Place brewery, owned by Mike George and managed by Carolyn Alford, has become a fixture of Little Falls’ growing events calendar, hosting everything from anniversary celebrations to fall festivals featuring local and regional bands.
Saturday’s pairing of the garlic festival and a Black Mountain Symphony set gives visitors a full day in Little Falls – starting with the Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival’s food and vendor booths, and ending with a night of live folk music at the brewery.
