By Josh McMullen – Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs
LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Albany Athletics and Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs could only manage six hits combined on Saturday – three for each side. In the end, it was the Athletics that made theirs count a bit more in the 1-0 victory.
Albany got on the board first – and last – in the fourth, scoring Matt Maron (Hudson Valley CC) on a passed ball.
That would be all Albany pitching would need, holding the Diamond Dawgs to just three hits all game to take the season sweep of Mohawk Valley.
John Calabrese, Brandon Hauk and Ethan Pues had the hits for Mohawk Valley, with Hauk picking up a double in the seventh.
Andrew Gendi got the loss for Mohawk Valley.
The Diamond Dawgs hit the road on Sunday, going to East Field in Glens Falls to take on the Dragons. They will be back at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Monday to take on the Boonville Lumberjacks.
